The short movie “Golden Autumn” is a poetic documentary that presents the elder women of Topolovgrad as the living memory of their community. Through gentle imagery and reflective storytelling, the film becomes a tribute to a generation whose lives are deeply interwoven with the history of the town. Its visual language is inspired by the symbolism of autumn – warm golden light on quiet streets, rustling leaves, and the gentle rhythm of everyday life, evoking ideas of continuity, care, and belonging. Rather than depicting Topolovgrad as remote or forgotten, the film portrays it as a welcoming and vibrant place where generations are born, grow, and remain connected through affection and shared memories. Beyond its lyrical atmosphere, the documentary also conveys a civic message: it highlights the importance of older people as guardians of tradition and carriers of collective memory. Through their creative collaboration, the filmmakers show that active citizenship can also mean preserving stories, nurturing empathy, and passing wisdom from one generation to the next. The movie was made within the framework of the LISTEN project.
