Participatory Assessment in Italy

In April 2024 Oriel APS hosted an event bringing together a diverse group of civil society organisations, activists, youth, and community representatives to discuss the future of civic engagement in Italy.

The event provided a platform to:
✅Create a space for dialogue between grassroots organisations and institutional actors.
✅Identify the barriers, needs, and opportunities for strengthening participation and inclusion in Italy.

💡Key insights from Italy included:

  • The growing importance of grassroots initiatives in addressing social and local challenges.
  • The need for stable funding and institutional recognition for CSOs.
  • Challenges of youth involvement, with calls for more accessible and creative participatory spaces.
  • The role of digitalisation as both an opportunity and a barrier for smaller organisations.

Participants valued the opportunity to exchange experiences, build networks of solidarity, and co-create ideas for a stronger culture of civic engagement.
