From 13–15 May, partners of the LISTEN Project from Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, and Portugal came together in Faro, Portugal, for a study visit dedicated to inclusion, accessibility, and community engagement.
Throughout the visit, participants explored inspiring initiatives and organisations such as MOJU, a youth organisation promoting youth participation through non-formal education activities for people facing social exclusion, Werk Room, an LGBTQIA+ cultural and community space using art and creativity to foster inclusion and connection, as well as Centro de Vida Independente, supporting independent living and accessibility for people with disabilities.
Partners also visited Ilha da Culatra, learning about community resilience, sustainability, and local collective action, while at WallRide they explored how sports, and more specifically skateboarding, can support youth engagement and social inclusion.
At “Four Senses” participants engaged in experiential activities designed to raise awareness on accessibility through interactive and participatory exercises that encouraged reflection and understanding of everyday barriers faced by visually impaired people.
The study visit offered a valuable opportunity for exchange, learning, and sharing good practices on how to build more inclusive, accessible, and connected communities for everyone.
